Temperature & Environment Sensors
Environment Monitoring is an important function for facilities of all types including IT data centers, warehouses, schools, hospitals, offices, restaurants, farms, factories, zoos, museums and more. Maintaining a stable environment where equipment and/or products are housed is critical for their continued operation, protection and use. With this in mind, monitoring is typically needed on a continual basis.
The ‘IT & Facilities Environment Monitoring’ market is arguably one of the fastest growing niches in the computer industry and yet surprisingly remains ‘under the radar’ of many IT and facilities managers… at least until disaster strikes.
In IT & facilities environment monitoring, there are seven primary threats that are consistently of the greatest concern. These include temperature, power, humidity, flood, smoke, air flow and room entry. Additional sensor types can be found for many purposes. The objective is to implement sensors that will meet the specific needs of your monitoring application, integrate them with an automated monitoring and alerting system and stay within the budget. Room Alert offers a variety of sensors and solutions to help you do just that.

Digital Temperature and Air Flow
Monitor air flow and ambient temperature with the Digital Temperature & Air Flow Sensor from AVTECH. This digital sensor monitors the air flow from vents, ducts and more in real-time to notify of changes or variables in air flow to help detect HVAC or ventilation problems and help you prevent costly downtime. This sensor provides real-time temperature values from -55 to 257° Fahrenheit or -55 to 125° Celsius when used with any Room Alert environment monitoring device.
Active power and temperature
Digital Extreme Temperature Sensor
Monitor extreme temperature ranges with AVTECH’s Digital Extreme Temperature Sensor. This digital temperature sensor provides real-time temperature values from -328 to 932° Fahrenheit or -200 to 500° Celsius when used with a Room Alert environment monitor. This sensor is perfect for situations where temperatures may reach extreme ranges, such as cold storage, laboratories, or specific manufacturing environments.
Digital Temperature & Analog Sensor
Monitor temperature and analog voltage with AVTECH’s Digital Temperature & Analog Sensor. This sensor provides real-time temperature values from -40 to 185° Fahrenheit or -40 to 85° Celsius. Accuracy is within +/- 2°C. The analog range is from 0 to 5 VDC. Accuracy is within +/- 0.075 volts.
Power Sensor
AVTECH’s Power Sensor provides real-time recognition of a power source going off or coming on at the outlet it is connected to. Common use is to monitor the power supply of a main, 3 phase, UPS or backup generator source.
AVTECH’s Mini Uninterruptible Power Supply & Power Outage Sensor is a unique sensor/UPS combination that detects loss of main power while providing seamless battery backup.
AVTECH’s Flood Sensor with attached 8′ (2.44 m), 24′ (7.32 m) or 50′ (15.24 m) sensor cable is activated by liquid (i.e. water, fluid, etc.) making contact with the attached Flood Sensor Cable of any length. Once liquid is detected the Flood Sensor triggers an alarm condition allowing the Room Alert hardware, Room Alert Manager software and/or other monitoring application to send out alerts and/or take automatic corrective action.
Flood Cable Extension
The Room Alert Flood Cable Extension is used to extend an existing Flood Sensor Cable configuration to your desired length. Connect the cable extension end to end up to 200′ (60.96 m) to complete your flood detection system.
Flood Sensor
AVTECH’s Flood Sensor (Spot) provides real-time recognition of flood or water and includes specially designed electronics that allow it to interface with Room Alert products as a switch sensor. The flood detector is powered by a 9V Alkaline battery (included), this model triggers an alert if the sensor is activated.
Smoke Sensor
AVTECH’s Smoke Sensor provides real-time recognition of smoke and includes specially designed electronics that allow it to interface with Room Alert products as a switch sensor. Powered by one 9V Alkaline battery (included), this model has a bright ‘escape’ light and loud ‘buzzer’ that are triggered if the sensor is activated.
Room Entry Sensor
AVTECH’s Room Entry Sensor provides real-time recognition of a door or cabinet being open. Standard use is to mount the wired sensor to the frame of a door. Then, mount the matching actuator opposite of the sensor on the door itself. When the door opens, the two components separate and the sensor trips.
Relay Switches
AVTECH’s Relay Switch Sensor allows low voltage devices to be turned on/off in response to an event going in or out of an alarm condition. The AVTECH Relay Switch Sensor can toggle up to 4 devices. It is compatible with AVTECH’s Room Alert 32S, 12S, 3S, 32E, 12E or 3E environment monitors via (included) Light Tower & Relay Adapter (LTA), which also includes its own Relay Switch.
Current Loop Sensor
AVTECH’s Current Loop Sensor monitors the electrical current flowing through a single-phase powered cable. It outputs a signal of 0 to 5 VDC (volts of direct current), which your built-in or external Room Alert Analog Sensor Port then converts into an amp (A) reading. By pairing a Current Loop with your Room Alert monitor, you can easily determine the power consumption of an electrical appliance or device at your facility. The Current Loop can be easily moved to various appliances as needed and will help you monitor power consumption to determine if a power drop might be causing a problem or if an appliance is drawing too much power. The cost of electricity is one of the fastest growing costs and concerns for IT managers so knowing that a problem exists is the first step in resolving the problem.
Fuel Tank Level
AVTECH’s Fuel Tank Level monitors the rise and fall of fuel or other harsh liquids in a container (i.e. typically a large tank). The float switch and control weight are composed of chemically-resistant polypropylene; the 16′ (4.88 m) cable is coated with rugged PVC. Because this sensor uses a dual-point switch and differential height between switch states, you can use just one sensor to monitor two levels… both high and low.
Dimensions of the float switch are 6.1″ H x 6.7″ W (15.5 cm x 17.02 cm). The control weight is 4″ H x 2.25″ W (10.16 cm x 5.72 cm). The 16′ (4.88 m) attached cable with PVC coating has a protection rating of IP67 and NEMA 6. The switch state differential range is a minimum of 10″ (25.4 cm) and a maximum of 50″ (1.27 m). Please see the Installation Note for more information.
Water Tank Level Sensor
