MailStore Gateway as Server: Many email servers offer the possibility of creating copies of sent and received messages in order to have an archive. On local mail servers, these copies can be sent directly to local mailboxes, but most email services, such as Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, don’t offer this functionality, either due to technical limitations or licensing issues. It is therefore necessary for external mailboxes to act as the destination for archive rules. MailStore Gateway as a Proxy: Many small businesses don’t have their own mail server or use email services that don’t support archiving or logging rules. These companies often use a combination of POP3 and SMTP in their email clients to send and receive messages. To ensure that all emails, both incoming and outgoing, are archived correctly, MailStore Gateway can log communications between the email client and the mail server, thus acting as an efficient email proxy. Free email server and proxy service for MailStore Server and MailStore Service Provider Edition (SPE) email archiving solutions. MailStore Gateway offers SMTP and POP3 proxy functionality. This tool provides basic mail server functions for receiving and archiving messages from Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and other mail servers that send emails to external archive solutions via SMTP. With MailStore Gateway, you can configure and manage mailboxes, as destinations for journal and archive rules, simply and efficiently.
MailStore Gateway performance features
MailStore Gateway, in addition to SMTP and POP3 proxy functions, has a basic mail server that makes it possible to store emails from cloud services such as Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, or from other mail servers. As a result, third-party external mailboxes, which used to be indispensable, are no longer necessary.
Proxy functionality
MailStore Gateway can function as an SMTP and POP3 proxy, which makes it possible to create copies of all outgoing and incoming e-mail messages between clients and e-mail servers.
POP3 server
A POP3 server that allows MailStore Server and MailStore SPE to archive e-mails with a standard e-mail transmission protocol in the MailStore Gateway.
Security
Strict password protections, no support for unencrypted connections, advanced encryption of stored data and no access to data without the mailbox password.
